Are there people who have just sent in the ACT and gotten in. Is a 33 alone enough to get one into Brown?

no i scored higher and got waitlisted. nothing is for sure, but that is a very good score!

If you go on USNews, then for 2005, I believe, fifteen percent of the accepted students submitted only the ACT. Of course, you'll only be able to see this information if you have the premium edition.

I submitted ACT only (33) and was accepted RD. Other stats and ECs were relatively competitive, but I really think that the essays and teacher recs. helped to nudge me in.

Son submitted ACT only (35) and was deferred ED and rejected RD. Strong academic record and teacher recs. Good interview. Older sibling attending Brown now submitted both ACT (36) and old SAT I (800-770) and SAT II (800-800-800) and was accepted RD. When most of the applicants look like this it probably comes down to the essays which is unfortunate since they are the only parts of the application susceptible to outside (parent-teacher-paid college counselor) input/influence.
