Act..

can someone please tell me the advantages of taking ACT over SAT? i've already took my first sat test and i did terrible..so i was thinking if i should take ACT instead or re-take my second SAT in Oct..

Here are some questions that i would love to know:
-do most of the colleges see ACT? or do they weigh SAT more?
-if i take ACT with writing essay portion, do i need to take SATIIs?
-i've checked the upcoming international test date, which is Oct. 27, and my concern is how many days does it take to see my scores? and can i apply for EA/ED round?
-i'm really new to ACT (i've just recently thought about ACT) and i want to know if i can aim for at least composite 30+ for the test in October 27 if i study hard for two months.

*i really need to know what i should do so please comment!! thanks.

please..help!

Ok I'm going to answer your questions to the best of my ability one by one:

1) Every single college in America accepts the ACT, and it's weighed just as much as the SAT

2) Depends on the specific college, but most schools I've seen will take EITHER the ACT with writing, OR the SAT I and SAT II's. If you want to submit the SAT II's, you're going to have to submit the SAT's too.

3) If you take the ACT on that test date, you will be able to see your composite score in as early as 10-11 days (of course you have to spend the $8 in order to see them early online), but in terms of Early Decision deadlines for the October 27th test date, I have the exact same question. Does anyone know whether or not the October 27th ACT can be included in an early admission application?

4) Anything's possible. Go to actstudent.org to get a sample full-length test, and buy "The Real ACT prep guide" for more practice tests. Be sure to time yourself on the sections, because timing tends to be the biggest problem for most test-takers (damn you Science!)

Good Luck!

I have a quetsion going along with #3 of yours (i agree with madboy on his other answers).

how long does it take after the test date to have the scores delieverd to colleges?

That's the million-dollar question. Does anyone know?

Thanks nikkigirl12 and Madboy121.

Does anyone know how long it takes to have the scores delivered to colleges? Thanks!

Go to the college's websites. Look at the deadlines for early decision. I have seen some places that say:

Early Decision Deadline:
November 15th. (Testing must be completed by Nov. 15)

I assume that means you can take the test even if it is on Nov. 15th.

If you can find that info, it don't see how it could hurt to email or call the admissions office.

I think most colleges say that the the ACT testing must be "completed before the deadline." So that would mean that you could take the Oct 27 test and you'd be fine for early decision. I could very well be wrong, and it varies between colleges. I do know that colleges with January deadlines will accept December ACT scores though.

If I take the September 15th test (it's being administred in my state),will colleges know my score by the first week of October?

at the very earliest, yes.
