What sections of the ACT does the Academy look at? And what is a good score to aim for?

Thanks.

Reading = Verbal. Minimum score = 26.

Math. Minumum score = 26.

The ACT scores are converted the SAT equivalents. Navy ROTC does a similar conversion, but the scores have to come from the same test.

Would I be able to use my ACT verbal score and SAT math score?

Yes. The Naval Academys Admissions Board uses the highest combination of verbal/critical reading and math scores from all SAT or ACT tests taken by a candidate. The writing section should be taken by all candidates. Therefore, candidates will normally enhance their competitiveness simply by taking both the SAT and the ACT more than once.

Yes to the above... take early and often!

Beat Army!

Does the Academy look at the science and english scores of the ACT?

Absolutely not.

Really? I remember reading on the Vice Pres. application that USNA's requirements were 26 on science and reading. But on the CIS only English and Math are listed.

And I believe USNA takes the English as the verbal section, not the reading. On my CIS is has my math and English scores but not reading.

You may be correct. One PA senator nom form requests the individual scores. So GA is correct; however that does not mean your science or reading may not play any part in your nomination process. But definitely not in your triple Qing process.
