I was recently redirected to BFA Acting at Oklahoma City University (originally auditioned for mt). I wanted to know if there are any parents or students from the school that could offer me any information about the acting program. Would acting majors receive voice lessons? Would they be able to audition for the musicals or have access to the practice rooms? I love this program and I would really like some more information in regards to BFA Acting.
Congrats on BFA Acting @Abbaroo98! At OCU, Acting majors do get some voice. You should check the curriculum online for how many hours and who the instructors would be. You definitely can audition for musicals and acting majors are cast frequently (likewise MTs audition for straight shows and are often cast in those). I think practice rooms would be available to you- but I will try to confirm that for you. The acting program has had a number of successful grads in national musical tours recently (for example, Alex Enterline had a lead in Nice Work If You Can Get IT and Katie Postotnik had the lead role of Molly in the Ghost national tour. ). The new head of the theatre school is well connected in LA. They have done a spring break trip to LA and a showcase there as well. My D loves OCU. Feel free to PM me with any questions… I’ll do my best to answer.
^ ^ ^ I saw Alex in Nice Work and he’s got a phenomenal voice and is a great MT performer. =D>
