Leaning toward Syracuse, but also love Emerson. But Marymount gave fantastic merit aid and is soooo much less expensive. Can anyone provide any insight or advice about the benefits/advantages of these schools for Acting BFA?

If money is not a factor, Syracuse 100%. It is the most prestigious of the 3, plus it is a great all round school. Congratulations!

Money is a factor. I need to decide whether Syracuse or Emerson (about the same cost for me) are that much better than Marymount to make them worth the extra money.

I recall some threads about the size of class at Marymount versuse the number of productions being a significant issue with some kids going through 4 years with barely being cast in anything.

Marymount has the NYC location at a surprisingly reasonable price, but I don’t know whether it compares academically. I personally would choose Boston or NYC as locations over Syracuse in a heartbeat, but Syracuse has a terrific performing arts program. If you’re a basketball fan, Syracuse would be the best option.

My D is in the BA musical theatre at Marymount (2nd year) and has had a great experience so far. Her acting teachers have all been wonderful.

She has many friends in the BFA program and those kids are also very happy with the school and the training. There are opportunities to be cast, but probably not as many as some other programs. My D loves the school and living in NYC. That’s just my $.02 worth.

Hello everyone. I was accepted into the BFA Acting program at SU and am entering next month in August for Fall 2013! I’m very excited. I know SU has great opportunities such as studying abroad in London and performing at the Shakespeare Globe theatre, and also the Tepper Semester in NYC, but other than those two, do SU performers get good exposure to professionals in the business?
