Acting professors?

I was just looking at the document entitled “BFA Musical Theatre Student Handbook
Emerson College, Draft To Be Effective Fall, 2014” that is available online. In it, there is a list of the BFA MT faculty. It lists 5 full time faculty, 3 voice faculty, and 6 dance faculty. There is no separate listing for acting faculty. However, one of the full time faculty, who also happens to be the head of the MT program, is listed as teaching acting.

Does this mean there is only one acting professor at Emerson? I had this same question with Baldwin-Wallace. Seems to me that there are a ton of kids out there who can sing and dance really well, but far fewer who can act really well while singing and dancing. One acting professor makes me nervous. Does anyone know if I am missing something? Or how the acting classes work at Emerson? Now that they’ve gotten rid of their cut system, my D was considering it, but I want to make sure that there is a strong acting component.

Thanks in advance!

I don’t know a ton but I did participate in a (college audition) workshop with the head of the program last year and it was incredible. Since it was an acting workshop primarily, maybe it wasn’t an accurate portrayal of how the actual program is, but it seems to me that Emerson is one of the schools that places the most emphasis on acting. And the faculty member in question was very clear that acting is the most important branch of MT. I’m not sure how classes work but I think the acting component is very strong. I didn’t feel like BW was less acting focused either, but that was just from watching Stages xD
