Acting vs MT

Anyone know how integrated the acting and MT concentrations are at Ball State? Can BFA acting majors take voice lessons and dance classes? Can BFA MT majors take higher level acting courses? Are acting students cast in musicals, and MT’s in plays? Is there a hierarchy at the school with one program overshadowing the other or are they seen fairly equally? Thanks!

@RogueMom Did you get any of this info?

My daughter is an alum and got her BFA-MT there in 2017. I can definitively tell you that acting students are cast in musicals and MT students in plays on a regular basis. I can also tell you that the acting training the MTs get is excellent, although I don’t know specifically the content relative to the acting students. And I think (but will need to check) that acting students get access to voice lessons and dance, although I’d have to check on how that works.

What I do know is that the kids coming out from that program receive great training. My D has elected to do local/regional work since graduating, and has been cast pretty much since graduation, and has been hired solely as a dancer, solely as an actor for plays including Shakespeare, and has been in a variety of musicals since leaving. She is a very flexible actor and musician, and it’s because of the great training she received at Ball State.
