Activities/resume on Coalition App required???

My DS18 is applying to University of Maryland which is the only school she’s applying to that uses the Coalition App. And I have no prior experience with the Coalition App from my DS16 so we are feeling our way through this. Any idea if the Activities/Resume question that is on the same page as the coalition essay question is required? I’m not sure why they would need this when the student was already asked to document extracurricular activities and honors/distinctions in an earlier part of the app. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Sorry that I do not know, but wanted to chime in that my child is also applying to MD. And MD only takes Coalition and she has no other Coalition only schools. I went through the sections with her and it is a really vexing application. And the essays are just that much different and different word counts from other applications. So far MD is #1 annoying and Pittsburgh is #2 with it’s three stupid essays (We get 30,000 applications a year. What makes you so unique?). Good luck. DD will likely err on the side of repetition by completing all sections.

Thanks for saying that - vexing is a very good word to describe it. My son applied to MD two years ago when they used their own app and it was much easier to navigate and complete back then. My daughter does not have a resume ready to go so will not be happy about having to create one.

The most annoying thing about the Coalition App is that the essay is capped at 550 words and the Common App is capped at 650. Why, oh why do they need to make one more thing so complicated for us? The resumé attachment for UofMD is beyond overkill.
