For my additional information section I wanted to put in an activities/interest resume to give admissions a better idea of who I am and what I do in my free time (since my organized activities are a bit thin).

Tell me what you think?

--I am also a bit iffy putting the Young Authors thing on there since it was 6th grade, but I was told that if it was an important thing you should put it on, even if it wasn't recent. Plus, it also demonstrates my interest in creative writing... so.... opinions?

Thanks!

Organized Activities (more in-depth):
Literary Guild: The guild was formed during my junior year. For a contest held by the guild, three out of four of my poems and my short story were chosen in a blind read to be published in the schools literary magazine, The Mule Skimmer. As a winner in this contest, I was invited to join the guild. Since then, I have taken part in a poetry reading and I intend to participate in further activities and guild meetings when they start.
Tutoring: I stay after school in the tutoring center to help other students who are having difficulty with classes and homework. I have gained a new perspective on many subjects, especially with English when I help a Taiwanese exchange student because of how much I have to break down the material in order to explain it to her.

Other Activities/Interests:
Drawing: I have participated in art for as long as I can remember. I often spend my free time sketching and drawing, with my interest concentrated in human figures and portraiture.
Writing: I have also been involved with this activity for a long time. I write short stories and poetry in my free time, and I am currently organizing an idea for a novel.
Exercise: Fitness has become increasingly important to me in the past couple of years. I use an elliptical machine and weights for an average of 9 hours per week, with daily workouts of approximately 1.5 hours. I also enjoy running at Wildewood Metro Park.
Hiking: I like to set aside a couple of hours each week to hike around Wildewood Metro Park.
Foreign Language: I love foreign languages and cultures. Whenever I find the time, I work on trying to familiarize myself with different languages. I have been working with Japanese, French, and Russian.

Causes That I Support:
Internet Neutrality: I am against the restrictions that telecommunication companies aim to establish for their internet services, and I inform others of the possible repercussions of such restrictions, as well as voice my concerns to state representatives.
Animal Welfare: I am against the abuse and exploitation of animals. I believe that punishment for animal abuse needs to be more severe than it currently is. Since I am against the use of animals in laboratory testing, I will only buy products that state that they were not tested on animals. On numerous occasions, I have fostered stray animals until I could place them in a good home.

Awards/Recognitions:
Young Authors Conference: 6th grade; work was selected and recognized in writing contest; I was invited to, and attended, the Young Authors conference.
Outstanding Freshman Artist (2007)
