So, I’ve been attending private lessons in English and French for many years and during the school year only. However, in my free time and especially in summer, I do a lot of extra independent work - I converse with native speakers with the purpose of ameliorating my speaking skills, watch movies (listening), read books and articles, and spend considerable amount of time enriching my vocabulary through the activities stated above. I’ve got a pretty good idea of how many hours I put into the lessons as well as into my self-study time. However, I am not quite sure how to describe each on the CommonApp.
For instance, would writing something like “French language courses (during school year), independent work (all year; video conversations with native speakers, books, movies)” in the “describe this activity” section work? Should I thick “All year” under “Timing of participation” and write down the average number of hours I spend in all 52 weeks of the year or should I go for “During school year” and 32 weeks instead? Essentially, would it be a problem if I stated the lessons + self-study time into one activity section on the CommonApp and how do I go about filling the information in?
