Activities

Currently I am a rising senior. I always have kept near perfect grades in the most advanced classes but hardy did any extracurriculars until junior year because that’s when I realized that I wanted to get into a good college. I’m planning on doing some things, over the rest of the summer and through the fall that will take my application to the next level. (I won’t go into specifics). Do you think the fact that most of my ECs will be concentrated in my (junior/beginning of senior year) will mean that I have not been committed for a long enough period of time for it to make a difference?

Honestly yes it’ll just look like you’re doing things to beef up your application. What’s your intended major?

@a20171 I’m not just joining random crap just to look good for college. I’m doing a very meaningful project that I’ve been working on since last year and that I won’t finish until this fall. I’ve been doing, in general a few meaningful Extra- Cirriculars instead of joining many just to look good for college.

And also don’t colleges,as a general rule , usually focus more on the last two years anyway?

Well, for extracurriculars they do look at length of involvement. They will see that the activities aren’t just fluff, for sure, but they will question why you only started getting involved in junior year.

Well, if your project really is meaningful to you, then that’s great. If you can talk more about it somewhere else on your application, that could help.

Thanks for your replies - I’m all set now and don’t need any more help
