For activities, if the two at the top are 5 hours, some 3hours, and 2 for 2 hours all per week, is that too low for these schools even if there are leadership positions in them?

Also, does working for 15 hours/week offset this?

However, my top two activities were 1.5 hours and 2 hours, respectively. But I still got in. ECs definitely aren't the most important part of your application (IMO).

I think they are also more interested in how long you've been doing the activity.

I've been doing student government since i was a freshman, for, in earlier years, 1 hour per week, now, as sec., about 3, every week.

This year, I joined the newspaper staff as copyeditor (they had one before who graduated, and I was asked to do it, which is why I only joined senior year). The weeks I work, I work 6-7 hours, but thats 9x per year (right before each issue comes out), and only one year.

I consider, and i think they would too, the student gov. position more significant, even though the # of hours per week is higher for the newspaper.

I put my top activity as Horseback Riding because I've done that throughout high school..it was also 18 hr/ week (because factoring in days of break when I'm there like 8-10 hours/day..it worked out).

I think they looked a lot more for quality and continuity then they did for last ditch efforts to throw some meaningless stuff in it.
