This is a question that puzzles me. I know that UCs supposedly say that they weight the SAT and ACT the same, but then why do the average ACT scores for the top tier UC schools (UCB, UCLA, UCSD) seem to be so low (In the 27-29 range) compared to their high SAT scores?

I’m wondering because I didn’t do so great on my SATs but I got a 31 on my ACTs, which is well above the apparent average of UC schools. Yet still, people say I should try to aim for a 2000+ on the SATs.

Any answers? =/
