Actual 2011 PSAT Scores - Post Here!

I am hoping the cutoffs go down. My son got 222 in MA. In writing, he scored 71 with one wrong and one omitted. MA’s cutoff is usually among the highest. His SAT score from November is 2290.

237 (80 CR/77 M/80 W)

One question away from a perfect score. D: The worst part is I knew exactly which one I missed after the test, and the math section was the only section I didn’t miss anything on last year.

how come i got a 75 for CR -1 and others got 76? has this happened before in the past?

I was told 240 by our director, but I’m not believing it until I see it for real.

219 dropped 4 points from last year. Read math questions wrong -_- but I can’t complain! I made national merit! and I have a 2360 so I’m set! Scholarships here I COME!!!

222 in CA
80 CR (-1)
68 Writing (-3)
74 Math (-2)

The curve was pretty harsh this year… Does anyone know what the cutoff was in CA last year or if my score will be good enough for SF?

I expect the difference would be the date the test was taken (Sat vs Wed). Each test has their own curve, but they are close.

So, based upon curves, it looks like Math and Writing were rather easy and Reading was brutal…

Good job to all BTW!

Our school won’t release the scores or the access code yet… but my guy this year is a sophomore, so no pressure.

Gah! My counselor told me she hasn’t received the PSAT scores yet. I hope she doesn’t give them to us after the holiday break, like some schools do.

By the way, to the people who posted/will post your scores, can you also include what day you took the PSAT(Wednesday or Saturday)? Thanks!

Our youngest son got 219 in Texas. His Soph score was 227 (drop of 8). Last year cutoff in TX was 219. Anyone think it might go lower this year? Kids think the test was harder this time around.

I’m not eligible for semifinals, but I’m glad to have broken the 210s. :3 Last year, when I was sick, I just eked out a 197 (54 in math, oy), so I’m satisfied to qualify for commendation. Plus, I got a 70 in math and missed only one question in the writing section! =D Big improvement since last year.

It was the craziest thing, though. We got two envelopes, and the first one I opened had a score of 174–not only had scores dropped all across the board, but my best subject, writing, had fallen to a 51. Then I learned that it was for another girl whose name is nearly identical to mine. I opened the other envelope, saw a nice little 213, and breathed a sigh of relief.

…I feel kind of sorry for the girl, though. ^^;

In my state 213 is basically NMSF. Cutoff has never been that high yet…

My S just got his scores, NY Wednesday - 80 CR (-0), 74 M (2 omit), 80 W (-0).

After worrying for 2 months that I failed, I finally put an end to my uneasiness. I knew I messed up CR (at least 7 wrong) and one question in math, so I was terribly worried I wouldn’t make the cut (210). Well, turns out all the rest I got right.
220 (form W, Wednesday)
63 CR (9 wrong)
77 M (1 wrong)
80 W
This is the best I ever did on a SAT/PSAT test. I improved 21 points in writing and am ecstatic that I did so well. I worried the past week since the writing curve was so harsh, but in the end, I got a perfect score in writing. The funny thing is I moved from NJ where the cutoff is around 221 to WI and the cutoff is only~210. However, that may have influenced my score as I moved in 8th grade.

First post! Have been reading CC for three years and finally joined
My S just got his junior PSAT scores: 234 SoCal! NMSF
CR 77
M 77
W 80
Big improvement from last year’s 206
Did private tutoring before PSAT and rolled into November SAT with 2280.
CR 680 M 800 W 800
Just not balanced enough for his schools. Hope December retake is better distributed

To the parents on CC posting their kids’ scores: do you ask their permission? Just wondering. I don’t think mine would let me.

Such intelligent people on here. I haven’t received my scores yet, but I’ll be happy just to get a 190. I prefer the ACT much more.

i got a 240 in jersey, big improvement from my 208 last year :D

I looked on my counselor’s sheet and I might have misread it.

Freshman
61 CR
70 M
52 :frowning: W (I have no idea what happened… I scored in the 60s on the practice test.)

I need to work on Writing and Reading. Any tips?

When do we get the booklet and detailed score report?

212, cutoff 213. this is the worst feeling i’ve had on any standardized test.

For the NHS program go to the hispanic students forum for last year’s cutoff. It depends on your state and it has been slowly increasing almost everywhere. The south was very high, 193 last year.

CC is a little nuts and skewed results. For kids in the normal/average range. YOu are not alone. My D just broke 160 and I was pleased…yep…straight As, full IB and just does horribly on multiple choice tests. I think she may do better on the ACTs since it is more straight forward. She is one of those kids who doesn’t see the question as a trick…and falls for every miscue that the College Board throws at her. My S had the SAT figured out and scored 2250. I would say my daughter is more likely to do better in college than her brother just because she is organized, hardworking, and very charming as well as smart. If you are one of the “low” scorers on CC…take heart. No one gives a rats a** about these scores in another few months.
