does anyone think that overall cutoffs might stay the same or drop a little because this was a relatively harder test (harsh curves) as oppossed to last years PSAT??

Even though some thought last year’s test was easier, some states dropped and some stayed the same. Happens every year. Some go up, some down and some stay the same. Will have to wait until September.

CR 80
Math 74
Writing 80

Composite: 234 (I AM SO HAPPY)

Woohooo! Plus I live in Arkansas, where the cutoff for national merit is around 205, so I think I’m guaranteed to get into National Merit.

anyone know what the answer to the question to the nature passage about the summary of nature passage was? just wondering because we don’t get ours back till end of jan

@SkeezeyJ: You could still make NMSF. The cutoff has been 208 in the past, and this year’s should be low due to the insane curve.

Hoping for NMSF in AL as well; 213. At least I have the NHRP status (coming this Sept.) to back me up should I not make NMSF. :)

@Incorrigible
that arrogant person made a grammar mistake
it’s “At least you can say you didn’t do as poorly as they”
not “At least you can say you didn’t do as poorly as them”.
;D

I got a 199… 63 Reading, 69 Math, 67 Writing. So bad. Do you think I still have a shot @ getting commended scholar?

Scores:

Critical Reading: 73, 4 wrong 0 omitted
Mathematics: 77, 1 grid in wrong, 0 omitted
Writing Skills: 71, 2 wrong, 0 omitted

Total comes to 221. I live in MARYLAND… think I will make semi-finalist status?

CR 80 (-1)
Math 74 (-2)
Writing 69 (-2)

223 Composite so I’m basically guaranteed NMSF in the great low cutoff state of Utah. Also, the writing score was crazy harsh for the Wednesday exam. I got a 78 last year in writing as a sophomore and a 69 this year, quite ironic if you ask me seeing as I did so much writing prep and practice tests between last year and now. Oh well, I’m quite happy and congrats to everyone who think they have made it past their state’s cut off!

anyone know the cutoff score for michigan?

@cheers Nobody will know the cutoffs until September of next year. If you check the MyRoad thing on collegeboard.com, you can see your state percentage scores; generally, you’ll get Merit Finalist if you’re in 99th percentile, but it can also range to the upper 98th percentile.

I hope I made it. I’m in the 99th percentile in the nation, which has a higher ave. than my state. But still. sigh Can’t September come any faster?

I made a 207. Not high enough for NM in Georgia. >.< But at least I improved from last year! (198)

Critical Reading: 68
Math: 63 (Always a struggle for me. I’m great at math in practice, but these standardized tests are rough.)
Writing: 76 (Omitted just one!)

Got a 232 - 80CR, 72M, 80W

Shoe-in for NMSF. boom.

i don’t think i should be worried about nmsf haha.

First Post:

CR: 75 (2 wrong)
M: 72 (3 wrong)
W: 75 (1 wrong… gah)

Overall: 222.

I live in New Jersey so I don’t know if I can make the Semi-Finalist. Last year it was 223. But in the years before it that it was around 221. So lets see if they bring it back down to 221 this year. Fingers crossed.

Got D’s scores today.

CR - 80 (missed 0)
M - 77 (missed 1)
Wr - 76 (missed 1)

233 total, taken on Wednesday. Our state’s cutoff was 215 last year, so she is in great shape for NMSF.

@Rusty

I’m sure you meant “Shoo-in”. ;)

I got:

74 CR (Missed three: One definition that I misbubbled and two interpretations, one of which I misread and the other I had down to two options, neither of which I was really in love with)

74 Math (Missed two: One stupid, stupid geometry mistake and one where I unnecessarily went with my gut, having misjudged my time)

80 Writing

I felt (based on my and my friends’ scores) as if this test wasn’t terribly difficult. Good thing the College Board made up for that with the curve. A 228 is well above the 210-ish cutoff in my native, bubble-challenged Iowa.

Ugggh i got a perfect on math psat but i failed math sat!!!
