[] why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered where you were: well I didn’t apply anywhere regular decision, so I guess my situation is a bit atypical in that I didn’t get the chance to get rejected anywhere But I think it was mainly my ECs (not extraordinary, but reflected what I was interested in and not exactly run-of-the-mill) and teacher recommendations got me in.

BTW; I went to Howard (as did my sister, 2 aunts, and a brother in law). I went to undergrad and medical school there.

haha! oh i totally forgot to put where i was accepted.

i got accepted to howard & Uof Arizona with full rides and stipends.
and to Tulane with a 24k scholarship and honors program invitation.

i am hoping to go visit HU if I get named a national achievement finalist…and my mom is really pushing me to go there! we’ll just have to see how i like it when i get there :]

eatingfood, is Yale your first choice? It seems to be a “fit” school for you (at least academically). Your political involvement would make me inclined to say Columbia would be good as well.

I’m not at all surprised to see that black students w/ good grades and test scores are doing well. I do hope, however, that students w/ more average stats will post in the spring, when the RD results are out.

Foolish, what average stats? The students on CC who apply to top schools all have about the same stats. Those stats just tend to be high and therefore seem above average, but it is average on CC.

Maybe I’m wrong, but it seemed like Foolish was saying that some of the people in this thread have excellent stats and he hopes that some people with more average SATs and GPAs will begin to post their results once they find out where they’re going in April

*Honestly, with just my numerical stats, I don’t think I would have gotten into Penn, my SAT and SAT II are both reeeeally low for Wharton. I’m pretty sure that it was my recs and essays that really helped me (and my hooks). But I put a lot into my essays to make them really unique and reflective of me (I wrote about my unusual name and how it represents my identity. . .I thought it was cute :]).

Got into my first choice so I’m just waiting out the rest of senior year. Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations, do you intend to pursue Corporate Law? If so you might want to look into the submatriculation program that Wharton has with Penn’s law school. It allows you to finish a BS+JD in only 6 years, so it saves you about 70K in law school tuition, and gets you into one of the top 10 law programs in the entire nation.
I wish I could just ride out senior year, but the rest of us have to wait until the 31st.

Thanks, Dbate. And I’m not entirely sure about corporate law. I’ve looked into it some and it definitely interests me but I don’t entirely want to pigeon-hole myself into something in case I find out that my interests lay completely somewhere else. But I’ll definitely look into that so at least if I do decide to pursue it, I have some knowledge about the program.

And yeah, couldn’t imagine the waiting but good luck with HYP.
