Actual SAT Scores compared to practice test scores

How did your actual score compare to your average scores on practice tests?

Almost exactly the same, so I wasn’t too surprised with my results. Use the Blue Book the official SAT one) for the most accurate way to gauge your abilities.

compares on what book you are using, if using the blue book your scores should be similar

I’ve heard that some companies such as Barron’s provide harder practice tests

How about PSAT vs. SAT scores? Same type of results?

^^- That actually differs. Some people increase, others decrease. Personally mine increased a lot from the PSAT to the SAT.

^
The only way it can decrease is if you go from a 200+ on the PSAT to less than 240 on the SAT

^that seems to be precisely my situation.

You got less than a 240 on the SAT? That means you got 90% of the questions wrong…

By the way, I did not make a typo

woops thought that said 2400. My apologies.

Yeah, I was being slightly humorous. I know that 240 PSAT to 2300 SAT is a decrease, not increase.

In practice, I got over 2100s on practice tests. I did not even get close on the real one. I tend to get nervous in real tests.

Yeah. Have you already taken your SAT? If so, what kinds of scores were you getting about a month in advance of the actual thing? I’m about 50 points shy of my target and I’m taking it in january.

On my PSAT, I got a 240. I have taken 5 practice SAT tests with the following results:
2380-Missed 1 Math, 2 SC, 1 Passge Based
2350-Missed 5 SC
2370-Missed 2 Math
2290-Missed 1 Math, 1 Finding Errors, 2 SC, 6 Passage Based <—Hopefully, this is an anomaly
2400-Missed 1 Math, 1 improving sentences, 1 SC, 1 Passage-Based

My actual SAT score was ~100 higher than the scores I’d get on practice tests, but this is unusual: most people experience the opposite trend.

garfield, how are you so good at CR? I don’t get it, is there not 1 passage you don’t understand? A couple vocab words you don’t understand? Make 1 wrong assumption on a question? I’m struggling to get above a 600 (i got a 600 on Dec SAT) but i average around a 570. How do you do it?

Discounting the anomaly of 6 missed Passages, I think my passage based reading is so good because of my AP English class. Their MC questions are much more difficult, but my teacher always emphasizes that all answers must be supported by the text. On the SAT questions, the correct answer must be supported by the text and cannot have any new information that’s not in the text(for example, if the text says Former presidents make a lot of money, you can’t mark an answer choice that says ex-politicians make a lot of money).

Most passages are about the sciences, social sciences, or literature, all of which I am interested in. My vocab is my main weakness, and thus I am studying Direct Hits to improve my SCs.

My PSAT was 239
i’ve gotten mostly 2400 and 2350s before on my practice tests and got a 2260 on Decmeber, i was sick. i’m so mad
but i took another practice today and got 2270, so i’m starting to worry, could I be getting worse? did that ever happen to you guys?

^
It happened to me: I got a 2280 on a bad day since I got 6 Passage questions wrong, when I usually miss 0 or 1 of those
