Hi guys! I applied to UPitt a little less than two weeks ago. On my application I indicated Pre-Med but I heard it is impossible to get in Pre-Med. is this true? If it is, is there a way I can call UPitt and change my intended major? I really want to get in! Please help me out. Thanks in advance!!

Don’t freak out. Pre-med is not a major at Pitt. It’s a track-a recommended set of courses you take to enter med school. So you can’t be declined to that as a major. You’ll choose a major AND take pre-med classes. I was told they ask if you are pre-med to consider you for the automatic acceptance to their med school which is more difficult. If you’re not eligible you will still be considered for regular admission. If you’re concerned about regular admission look at their common data set to see if you’re stats are within range. If they are and you applied early chances are good you’ll receive an offer. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your response! I am definitely qualified for regular admission, but I don’t think I’m qualified for consideration for their med school. I’m not even sure I’ll end up wanting to go pre-med. Your response was very helpful and it calmed me down lol. Thanks again :)
