This is very new to me. Could someone tell me everything there is to know about the subject? Such as job prospects, what you learn in it, etc.

Thanks everyone

I wanted to major in actuarial science but I think I may just major in Risk Management Insurance. This is my last semester at my CC and I will be transferring for this upcoming Fall semester. I applied to all my schools with an intended major of actuarial science as I want to pursue actuarial work. However, to become an actuary you have to pass the exams. I believe there are 9-10 exams of which you need to pass in order to officially have the title of an “Actuary” Anyone can correct me if I am wrong. However, to my knowledge, you can pass the first two exams and get an entry level job as an actuarial assistant while studying for the following exams. Hope this helps.

Thanks this was stuff I was looking for

Anyone that passes one of the exams and gets a job working in the Actuarial Department of a business is considered an “Actuary” by title.

After passing ALL of the exams (it takes years to actually do so) and meeting some other criteria, one gets the title “Fellow” from the designating board (Society of Actuaries). I think that’s what your are referring to.
