ACU's at beast

Army knows what they're doing.

I will admit that I love the old design (probably because I'm just so used to it), but this new design is awesome too. A huge plus---zippers make it quicker to dress, so less time is wasted getting dressed. AND no shoe shining! I will agree about the Velcroe, though. I dislike it being noisy, but I like it's function. I love this:

"16. Moisture-wicking desert tan t-shirt."

I think getting the ACU's at Beast would be very cool. While it is important to make sure everyone who needs the ACU has it and is getting it, i also believe that giving West Point cadets the uniform would be a smart move. Alot of the country looks at USMA as a keystone to todays Army and having the cadets in the old BDU's seems like it would be slightly counterproductive.

i'm not sure if its technichally allowed... but where i'm at everyone wears brown under armor instead of the brown cotton shirt. its just a shame they made the acu's out of cotton.

well, all the highspeed ones at least.

here's a good way to understand the no-starch thingy.

<a href="http://www.elusive-concept.com/strips/full/no_starch.jpg%5B/url%5D">http://www.elusive-concept.com/strips/full/no_starch.jpg</a></p>

...but the one thing that bothers me is how much they stand out against the woods. We're going to be like white rice on black china plates. I guess we'll just have to roll around in the mud some more. ;)

I saw a change of command ceremony from Iraq and the general had the new uniform on.

If you're out in thick woods often, uniforms get pretty torn up. Worst thing about the ACUs is the cost. I'd hate to have to replace an ACU uniform, it's bad enough with BDUs. Luckily the woods aren't so thick in the middle east...

Personally I think the uniform is part of the 'turn the Army into the Marines' campaign. "Every soldier a rifleman," digital camo...

It's official--the c/o 2010 WILL be issued 2 pairs of ACUs during Beast, and I guess 3 other sets of BDUs.

(1) Boots, Army Combat Uniform (ACU); There are four approved manufactures for this boot available for purchase. These are Wellco, Belleville, Mcrae and Altama Delta. Due to an on-going transition to the ACU, the Army is phasing out the black combat boot. The abovementioned boots are a tan colored boot. The boots retail for approximately $95; cadets are authorized two pair. (Note: The boots are available in Hot Weather and Temperate style; incoming cadets must have the Hot Weather boot. Please check with an AAFES or MCSS representative prior to purchasing).

...this is from the advanced purchase memorandum for class of 2010. Yay, acu's

i never used desert boots. the only ones i used are corocan jump boots and the standard issue goretex infantry ones. are hot weather boots waterproof? heavy? you use them at all yvtomraps?
