Ada Waiting List

I was placed on the waiting list for the Ada Comstock Scholars program for Fall. The letter said the list was a "select few." Does anyone know how many people are usually on the Ada Waiting List? And if many people are offered admissions off of it?

Smith is still my number one choice, and so I dont want to give up hope. I'm getting a "supplemental package" together to send them. Additional recommendations, literary journals featuring my short fiction, etc.

Any help is appreciated.

Hey rincewind
I'm sorry about the waitlist. Good luck on getting pulled in. Sounds like you have a good plan of action. I wish I had some suggestions for you.

Thanks, whoknows. I know you were an Ada hopeful too. How did it go for you?

I got in. I am excited and nervous.

Wow! Congrats!! I know you must be elated. Good luck and thanks again!

Good luck, Rincewind. I would definitely send them supplemental materials AND a letter stressing how Smith is your #1 choice, that you will attend if offered.

Thanks, TheDad. I already have a letter written that should go in the mail today. I just doubt that a lot of Adas reject the offer, so I'm thinking they don't use the wait-list for us very often.

The flip side is that the ADA waiting list sounds as if it's very small...I imagine a dozen or less. Also, I don't know that the Ada admissions percentage is a rigid 10 percent...an extra Ada or two isn't going to throw the campus out of whack.

Hey Whoknows, are you attending the ADA open house on April 18th? I was accepted to the program and plan to be there.

Rincewind, there may be more Ada's than you think who don't end up enrolling. I think many applicants to the Ada program also apply to the equivalent programs at Wellesley and Holyoke. An acquaintance applied last year and ended up going to Holyoke -- she loves it. Good luck!

Hey thanks for all the encouragement. I've mailed my letter off. I'm also sending in two new letters of recommendation, Phi Theta Kappa letters, a literary journal that is publishing a short story I wrote, and current grade reports.

Laureldj i do plan on attending. congrats to you!

Rincewind, I second what laureldj says - don't give up - and it sounds like you are not!

I am a wait listed Ada also!Have you heard any updates?Did they tell you if you were lacking in any department.I have an idea about 12 on orignal wait list but some could have choosen not to be on wait list.I wish you luck!
