Any in-staters know if a Dean's scholarship ($2k) is in addition to the Adams or Koplik waivers?? (My son qualifies for both Adams and Koplik, but can only use one as it is a tuition waiver). I will call the U on Monday, but I'm pretty sure someone here probably knows the answer! :)

Dean’s Scholarship is in addition to the Adams. My S has both.

I don’t know what the Koplik is, I never heard of that.

Just making sure you know this - the Adams scholarship does not include fees, it only includes tuition, which is only $1714/year.

You don’t know you qualify for the Adams until you get the award. Besides the MCAS being in the requirement range, you must also be in the top 25% for scores in the district. That information is hard to quantify just with MCAS scores. But you can give an educated guess. The Koplic doesn’t have that distinction of top 25%. You can apply just with the MCAS scores being in range.

thanks.

Notrichenough–I know that Adams is only tuition. Stanley Koplik Certificate of Mastery comes from MCAS and other scores/honors, and also is a tuition waiver like Adams, but you can only use one.

Chelsea0011–My son got the Adams scholarship–he got the letter back in Oct. He hasn’t been “awarded” the Koplik yet, but meets all the requirements.

Students are awarded either the Adams or the Koplik, not both.

From what I’ve been told, a student can be awarded both, but can only use one of the tuition waivers. The Adams is a scholarship. The Koplik is a Certificate of Mastery w/Distinction which also includes a tuition waiver at a state school.

From my reading, it’s better to use the Adams scholarship, because you only have to maintain a 3.0 v. a 3.3 for the Koplik waiver.
