My guidance counselor told me that a lady from Vanderbilt called him about me. He said that he said great things about me and that they wanted to know how things worked at our school, etc. I guess this means they are reviewing my application now? =O

Is this a good or bad thing? Or neutral? lol. Maybe I shouldn't read anything into it, but what do you guys think?

My GC said in past years that Stanford has contacted the GC and teachers who wrote letters of recommendation to learn more about the student as a person. That's part of the reason our IB coordinator loves Stanford. She loves getting the calls to brag about her students. It's always a good thing, though.

mrchipmunk: it's very possible that you are the first person from your hs applying to Vandy.....I know that in our school in NJ, this is the first year anyone has applied there (ever) and I think we have 4-6 people applying.....the admissions person probably needed more info from your GC for that reason...what state are you in???

NM I read your threads...you are from NJ too...that could explain the phone call.....your hs is probably not on VAndy's radar (like ours)......

An admissions cousenlor called my high school guidance counselor 4 days before decisions were supposed to come out. They asked for my midterm grades... I applied Early Decisions 2 so my grades were recorded but not yet sent out to all my schools.

I ended up getting in!!

I really freaked out when I found out they contacted my GC, but turns out it was a good sign!!
