Adcom's That Ignore Emails - What To Do

Truth is, I never intended to follow-up. It was my DS email and he was looking for advice.

ps Good advice Emerald - different folks have different expectations and pet peeves.

different folks have different expectations and pet peeves.

when my daughter was looking at private middle/high schools, one school wanted her Soc # on her application- I told them that they were the only school that asked for it- that I wasn't comfortable handing it out to everyone, and IF, she was accepted AND decided to attend if they still really needed it- at that time I would give it to them.
However- they were stinky about it & while they did accept her- we decided that it wasn't a school that we wanted to deal with as it was probably indicative of other things.

I also wonder- since email for some might seem ubiquitous, others may just know enough about it to realize they should communicate that way- but really have trouble with it.
My H at his large company, is peeved that all communication is now done through email or online w passwords. He doesn't have a dedicated computer, and really doesn't understand where info is stored etc. He can sometimes open emails, but he doesn't know how to send them.
( but I suspect he doesn't trust anything he can't use a hammer or wrench on)

And don't get me started on the school district- I think they have classes every year to teach teachers how to use their emails, but some teachers do & some don't.

Yea, what's up with high school teachers and email? That's a common thread.

With regard to e-mails & possible technological glitches--I had been receiving numerous e-mails that were bounced (unbenownst to me), even tho I had previously had absolutely NO PROBLEM getting e-mails from that organization regularly for years prior to the problem arising. I was very concerned because I had been used to prompt responses from that institution & the folks I had gotten to know well there. I finally got a long distance phone call from a secretary at the institution, telling me that they were frantic trying to reach me because all their e-mails to me kept getting bounced for over a month.

I gave them a new e-mail address & the problem has mostly resolved. I think the problem was my internet provider was adjusting spam &/or other filters & other things on the network & the institutions computers were doing something as well (they had had several major crashes). Between the computers, the humans were out of the loop & I couldn't understand why I was hearing nothing for so long. I was very glad when the mystery was resolved but prior to this hadn't thought about the black cyber holes that sometimes develop in the internet.

I was very grateful that the secretary was able to reach me & get other methods of contact so I could stay in touch with the folks at the institution.

Some email may also be seen as Junk...sometimes my server or whatever will place a perfectly legitimate email that I have gotten before into my junk mail

so I always check that file

Mine too, citygirlsmom.

My ISP mail program didn't even let me know what e-mails it was bouncing, so I never knew it was bouncing any! Sometimes we think e-mail is a lot more reliable than it actually is!

That is so true

My mom was having problems with her computer, and she asked the tech guy why would this happen only sometimes, and he said

who knows? sometimes its the way the wind blows that day

It like a car, its should always work, but sometimes....
