ADD/ADHD Disqualification?

Hi,

I’m a sophomore who’s looking at applying to the USNA, however I have/had childhood ADD. I have never taken any medication for it, nor have I had prescriptions for it, and my grades/extracurriculars are no issue.
Am I going to be disqualified because of my ADD? Will I need a waiver or anything?

Thanks!

Make sure you don’t take meds for the next two years. I believe that if you don’t take meds nor will take them in the next 2 years you should be fine as far as the medical exam is concerned. DoDMERB(the medical board) may ask you to submit some extra form/doctors reports, but as long as you don’t take meds it should be fine.

MABlue, is that information based on knowledge or conjecture? It surprises me.

This is from what I gathered while going through the DoDMERB process myself. I know this is the case for certain medications, and I believe I saw ADD/ADHD on the list of medications that the applicant had to have been off of for at least a year.

Again, never taken meds for it in my life. After looking back at the documents, it was “AIG with specific ADD tendencies”, which got me a 504 for testing anxiety.
