add/drop confusion

according to the college registrar (Cornell University Registrar) add/drop is different for seniors, juniors, sophomores and freshmen. seniors start on 1/13, juniors start on 1/14, sophomores start on 1/15, and freshmen are on 1/16.

BUT, on the school website's academic calendar (Cornell University - Academics - Academic Calendar), it says that add/drop starts on 1/15 for everyone.

does anyone know which one is true? i remember during fall add/drop, everyone had it on the same day.

not sure...hopefully some seniors on here will let us know :)

You can always call the registrar on Monday to get an answer.

according to a mass-email from the CALS registrar:

The CALS Registrar's Office would like to update you on a few changes that are occurring with add/drop this semester. The start-up for the add period has changed. The University has decided to do a staggering start for the add period. Please see the below times for when you can begin to adjust your schedule:
Add/Drop Period

Professional & Grad Students Monday, January 12th at 7AM

Seniors Tuesday, January 13 at 7 AM

Juniors Wednesday, January 14 at 7 AM

Sophomores Thursday, January 15 at 7 AM

Freshman Friday, January 16 at 7 AM

The Deadline to add and change the grading option will be Friday, February 6th.
The Deadline to drop a course will be Friday, March 6th.

In addition to the add date change, the CALS Curriculum Committee has decided that students will be able to enroll in up to 18 academic credits electronically through Student Services Center/JTF. Once the 18 academic credits has been reached a student will need to add courses via an add/drop slip and with their advisors permission. This was decided on December 12th by the CALS Curriculum Committee. Asides from freshman being able to enroll in a total of 18 academic credits, CALS does not have a limit on the amount of credits a student is able to enroll in.

Best,
CALS Registrar

apparently the drop period is still the same for everyone?

I think this is fair, btw, because that way seniors who really need a course will have a better shot at getting it.

Yea i got that CALS email too

there's another newer message from the CALS registrar. so you guys had better check your email again.

It's definitely different for each class. check to see which day yours is by logging onto just the facts or the student center.

So now its limited to 1 day per year and then everyone saturday i guess
