Add/drop period

When is it? And how does it work, is it all online?

Add/Drop period is when you can drop a course without receiving the W grade. You can also add any open courses during this time. I believe it’s the first week of school (someone correct me if I’m wrong?)

Anyone with less than 60 credits including freshmen are Sept.5 and Anyone with 60 or more can add/drop sept 4th.

LAST DAY to DROP via webreg or in person is
September 11th (without “W” grade)
LAST DAY to ADD is September 12th

During the add/drop, do most sections open up? If I am trying to get a class or trying to switch a section, what are the odds that the section will open up? Is it more (or less) likely in a class where there are many sections like general biology, or in a class with fewer sections, or are they all generally the same? Thanks!

It varies. Just be ready to grab a class if you see it. So know what sections you are looking for in advance.

Yeah it must be difficult to predict, I’ll check the sections now. From your experience, have you been able to add classes that you have wanted to, or did the sections not open?

My son currently attends Rutgers. Yes, he has been able to get the sections he wants several times. Last semester he forgot to register the first day but was still able to get the classes he wanted by continually checking Webreg. He wants to change one more section so he is going to look during the add/drop week.

For future reference, on the day you register, keep checking Webreg if you don’t get the sections you want the first time. People make a surprising amount of changes in the hours after registration opens, so your section might be closed out at 10pm and then at 10:45pm it opens up and you have to grab it.
