Does dropping a class during add-drop before oct. 16 show anywhere on your academic records, like the transcript? Also, if you add a new lecture, drop another, and get it, but then can't get one the discussions groups, what do you do next?

By “can’t get” a discussion group, do you mean that the section is full, or that it doesn’t fit into your schedule?

I meant section might be full for discussion.

You got to find a discussion group that you can add. In some cases if attendance doesn’t matter, you can just go to the other discussion group that you wanted to go to, but for record keeping, you need to have a discussion group added or you won’t be able to take the class.

that was really helpful. thanks kryptonite man. stupid evening discussions…

If a class I want to add says: “instructor consent required”.
Does that mean I actually have to contact the professor to add the class?
Btw, this is comm 2010

Nothing from add/drop will show up on your transcript/academic records. Only if you drop a class after (I believe) the 8th week of the semester will a “W” show up for the class (versus if you drop before that deadline, nothing will show up).

if you really need to get into a discussion group becuase it is the only one that works, email the professor and explain your situation. and with “instructor consent required” email the professor as well. let them know that you want to take the class and then just go to your college’s registrar to get the pink “add” form and have the professor sign it. make sure if you are dropping a class that you remember to officially DROP it from your student profile on “just the facts”. many times, students drop a class, forget to do that, and receive an incomplete, or even a fail for the class because obviously they didnt go to any classes and turn in any of the work. and lianri, you are correct about dropping a class. each college has a deadline for when you need to drop/petition to add a class before it shows up.

Does anyone know why the student center won’t let me drop a class at this time?!

^What is your class standing? Freshmen cannot add/drop until the 25th.

I’m a sophomore transfer…maybe that’s why haha. Thanks
