I seem to remember that having taken medication for ADD/ADHD is disqualifying for the academies (and maybe for military service too?). Does anyone know what the straight scoop on this is?

They asked about it on the DoDMERB questionnaire, I remember.

Need to be off of meds for 12 months prior.

Most medication for mental conditions i think are DQing. I was on Paxil for anxiety and it DQd me last year. I stopped in january so it will be cleared then even though i am currently DQd. I have two options. I am working on a waiver. If i do not get a waiver, then come january DoDMERB will clear my status.

Still waiting on waiver.

Tips of advice: Get all medical records from counselors/psychs you have seen and keep copies for yourself. If possible, get prescription records to show when you stopped. Request waiver ASAP, preferably before nominations are out. Trust me on this one.

You must be off a full year from meds AND I highly recommend getting tested again to "prove" you are no longer ADD. Do it sooner than later. Then get coaches and admissions on your side for help. We were finally OKed in May...
