Added to class without knowing

Last fall I was on the waitlist for a class at a cc that I was not sure if I was going to attend. I ended up going to a different cc but I recently found out that the professor had added me to that class without me knowing even though I never showed up and gave me an F. I've emailed the professor and I havent gotten a response. Will this affect my TAg with UCD? Does anyonw know what I should do or expect? Help would be appreciated.

Seriously im going crazy right now any advice would be great especially from UCD Admissions!

It's important to know that, as of right now, this is an official part of your college record so you need to try to clear the "F." If you can not clear it, it will be easy to explain it in your application and it will be very believable, especially if you have otherwise good grades.

You need to try to clear this F from your record, though, and the way to do that is to go to the college that issued the F and talk to a counselor ASAP and see what they say. E-mailing the professor is, of course, also good. You can also talk to admissions, they might be able to help. Also: If I were you, I would get a copy of the College's Catalog to read the college's policies and see if they professor did anything wrong in adding you to the class without your knowledge. If he or she did do something wrong, you'll have a much easier time pressing for the removal of that grade.

Thanks bro, I talked to the professor and he's willing to give me a W. Altough, from what I understand, W's don't matter right?

well you never paid for the class if you were just wait-listed correct? you should have been automatically dropped if you haven't paid w/in a certain amount of days. I'm curious why you would settle for a W if it's true you didn't go the first day and add...

Actually I did pay, but this was just last month. The class was last year but some collection agency started sending letters that i had delinquent fees which is how I found ot about the class. At first I argued that I never took the class but they said if I didn't pay it would ruin my credit or mess up my chances to get future loans. So I just gave in. As for the W Im not sure as to what else I can do.

That's insane. You got a sent to a collection agency AND got an F? Why didn't you log into the site and follow up on the class? Were you comatose for a few weeks or something?

Wow! That's really harsh. But, yes, a W does not matter. It's 100% better than an F. You're lucky that the professor is doing that for you!

I don't know what this college's policies are, but you are usually ALWAYS automatically droppped when you don't pay. I would say, take the W for now, but see if you can't in some way get the college to purge your transcript completely. Keep any records you have (from the collection agency, for example), in case you ever need to argue the case with an administrator.

If you want to try to get the college to delete the W (and therefore your entire transcript with them), be sure to find out what their policies are and if they violated them in your case.

Yea i know, sending a collection agency after me for $60 fee is kind of extreme. Well atleast now that I wont have an F im not as worried.

My cousin had a collection go after him for unpaid medical bills. There was only one problem, he was already dead.

Yeah, they'll go after anyone for anything.
