Addicted to my phone

Hey! I’ve been posting a lot because I’m getting ready for junior year and I’m trying to straighten out a few things before school starts.

One major problem I have is, for lack of a better term, my addiction to my phone and social media.

Like many teenage girls, part of being a social person is connecting through text, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram…but it’s gotten in the way of school before, and I’m deathly afraid that I’ll be too distracted to do well at such an important time.

I’m taking four APs and one honors class, doing eight clubs, volunteer work, church group, viola, and martial arts–I know I simply don’t have any time to waste anymore–and yet here I am, typing away on the very device that’s preventing me from succeeding. How can I limit myself enough where I still use my phone, but am not constantly thinking about it, or worse, checking it every few minutes? Please help!! This is hugely important to me and I’m getting very nervous!!!

Have you tried one of the many focus apps? Some just encourage focus (Forest) and other actually block the internet/apps. There a lot that are free and available.
If that doesn’t work, perhaps you could buy a cheap flip phone to stand in for your current phone when you need to focus.
Good luck!

When you’re working, put your phone in another room on silent or turn it off. Better yet, give it to a parent or someone else to hold on to while you’re working.
