Adding a picture to explain something

Hello,

I'm wondering if somebody can give me some input on whether it would be acceptable to include a picture of something I built. The reason being that I explain the architecture and building process in my essay, and it would really help if I had some visual aid.

How uncommon is this? Would they look down on it?

Thanks!
Emily

My personal opinion is that it’s ok because i heard some ppl used different ways to present their ideas in the essay. But since it’s called ESSAY, I think you should focus on the writing part, your idea, and yes, use the diagrams as a tool to impress the committee with the logic behind your choice.Like a math student made some statements in column and prove whether they were true or false. I think they would not look down it, and if you still worry abt it ,you can put it into the additional info.

Thanks for the prompt reply. :)

I’ve put in the picture. (Into my Common App essay.)
