Adding extras to your application

I'm just wondering - aside from the normal requirements, is it possible to also send in letters of rec from non-academic teachers and, for example, a CD of instumental music?

I'm a piano player of very advanced level and was hoping this could help me stand out from the other applicants. Keep in mind, I don't aspire to attend UPenn's music program [but possibly an extra-curricular, if there is one] and wish to apply to another one of its schools.

Would they accept this, even if I don't plan to major in piano? Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough, but I couldn't find any information about this on their website.

If anyone could put in some input, that would be great! Thanks :]

doesn’t hurt to add a layer of depth that would otherwise not be shown in your app

It should be possible. Just send all of that stuff in an envelope labeled something like additional materials or something like that.

I don’t know whether admissions will look through all of it but it wouldn’t hurt.

COOLIO. Thanks guys,

I was just curious because I know for NYU they explicitly tell applicants not to send in extra materials unless they are actually applying to the specific program.

Yes. Send in a CD and talk about Penn’s chamber music program and concerto competition in your application (even if you don’t plan to do either) to give your EC more weight.
