Adding Information to an Application Later

Hello,
I just found out that there is a good chance my family could be moving to Australia for my fathers work either in February of my senior year or immediately after I graduate. I feel like this would be a great addition to my application saying I was able to actually live in a different culture for 3-6 months before my start of college. The problem is that I have already submitted all of my applications. Would it be worth it to try and convey this information to my schools, especially my reach schools? Would it affect my chances of acceptance at all? If so what would be the best way to do it? Should I write a letter and fax it in and hope it gets associated with my application in time?

Thanks

Many applicants have overseas living experiences – many in non-English speaking countries. Your situation won’t be “a great addition” whatsoever for apps. Sounds like lots of fun (you got me jealous!!) – but nothing for apps.

Why do you sound like you are not presently in your senior year, though you are submitting applications to college? Just a wording thing?

I am a senior. And also, if they all have “overseas living experience” wouldn’t my lack thereof as it stands now in my application be a detriment to me, and would want to try and add it to get back on par with the other applicants? Its not worth attempting to send a letter to atleast explain my situation? @T26E4

You want to explain why you are a domestic born and raised kid trying enter a college here? Why you haven’t left the country?

When it happens you should email the schools to update your mailing address. And if the move is during the school year I would be very sure that your academics/final transcript from the HS you are leaving is in order and will be sent to the college you will attend. Moving overseas for a few months with your family isn’t all that unusual and it isn’t a personal accomplishment of yours so I don’t think it would change any admission decision at a college. Of course it is your application and your decision what to do.
