As a middle college student, I’m still technically part of my original high school, but I attend a community college. My high school uses Naviance for recommendations, so I’m unable to complete this part on the common app. However, my college professors can’t use Naviance, so how should I tell them to submit their letters–as an “other recommender”, which I can invite from the common app website, or as a snail-mailed hard copy?
I’m also a middle college student whose school uses Naviance, so I understand your issue. You could use the “other recommender”, but just be aware that it won’t count as a teacher rec. Other recommenders are used for, usually, non-essential recommendations like a coach, pastor, employer, etc. On the common app, if you go to my colleges, then go to the place where you assign recommenders, there should be something under teacher rec that says PDF Form. Have them fill that out and make copies of it because you will have to send it through the mail to each college you apply to. Make sure to tell your professor what day the rec has to be postmarked by. It would also be beneficial to give them envelopes with the addresses and stamps, if possible.
