Adding Schools to TAP (nys)

My friend is having trouble with TAP for NYS
He has a number of NYS colleges on his fafsa, and submitted already
But when he tried doing TAP, only one school showed up (Iona)
How do you add schools to TAP?

It is not broken, nothing to be fixed. That is the process with TAP, you are only allowed to put in one school.

u cant add up to 10 school codes???
like he doesn’t know which school he will attend in the fall, and the one school (iona) that is listed is not his number 1. how does he change the shcool?

bump bump :)

After you have submitted the TAP app there is a link under “check status” to amend school codes.

From the FAQ’s section:

I am not going to the school I originally planned. How can I change my school information?
On your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) you are asked to list the schools you plan to attend. The FAFSA, in turn, is the source of the school code for the TAP application. When you complete the online TAP application, the first New York school you listed on the FAFSA will appear online. If the school is not correct, you must change it when completing the TAP on the Web application.

After your application is processed, you may make school code changes online by visiting Manage My Account. Alternatively, you may make a change to the school code and/or student address by calling the HESC Customer Communication Center at 1-888-NYS-HESC (1-888-697-4372) or 1-800-445-5234 (TDD) and speaking with a representative. School code changes may also be made using our automated telephone system.

sk8rmom is right.

Only once you decide where you are going do you need to concern yourself with notifying HESC.

I was told online by HESC to do one for each school repetitively but I haven’t done it yet because the person who answered the phone didn’t exactly inspire my faith. The schools themselves actually post deadlines for when TAP should be completed and most of those dates are in February so he might be right. Seems to me that in order for the school to have access to the form, it would need to have that school’s name on it. Then there is also the problem of having more than ten schools and not all the NY schools are on the same page. Does redoing the Fafsa for the new list of schools eliminate the possibility of the TAP withdrawing the info from the first list???
Heeeeeeelp!!!
