My son is taking the SAT tomorrow. When he registered, ScoreChoice was not yet available. I read that he can 'add' ScoreChoice, but we didn't see any way to do that on the collegeboard site. Does anyone know? Also, I think I read you have a few days AFTER the test to do this.. is that true?

Score choice has been implemented for march’s SAT already, i don’t know what you’re talking about? I believe you choose score choice when your send your scores. Now you can do score choice any time you send your score not just days after you take the test. Score choice is avaliable for every single test starting march SAT. (i am not sure if it’s retroactive, i think it is though). Ultimately i don’t see why you would send colleges your scores in junior since it’s before college applications. I mean honestly, some people probably haven’t figured out their executive college choices yet and if they have, do you really think most colleges file your score in junior year, when you haven’t even applied to them? I mean unless you get a 2400 or 2350+, they’ll say who the hell is this-stash in corner-gone by your senior year when you really do apps. That’s probably how collegeboard thinks of making more money, they know you have to send apps in your senior year and that most people will SAT/SAT IIS before then so you have to pay 9.50 per score send and the “4 free ones” don’t really rectify anything.

If anyone thinks otherwise, please tell me, but I for the most part never found it pragmatic to send scores before you even apply to the school.

I think you are correct, but we weren’t able to figure out how to use the site to switch to ScoreChoice. I have emailed them and hopefully we can still change a couple of days AFTER the test. I’d rather pay $30 than risk sending low scores to the 3 schools he’s interested in.

I’m guessing if we have previously sent in all our SAT II scores to certain colleges, there is no point to using score choice to hide any of them now, is there? Like, I got a 740 and then 800 after retaking Math II, but I’ve already sent them in to the 4 free colleges each time, so is there a point to hiding the 740 now?

I dont think that you should use scorechoice because most good colleges tell you to send them all your scores.
Also colleges dont care if you get a low score the first time, in fact when you send the scores early it means that your interested in them, a good note when colleges see you.
In fact if you get a low score the first time and then increase your score the college likes that better than if you take it once and got a high score, it means you try your best.
