i tried pasting the photo to a word document since it can't be a jpeg format, but then that made the word doc file too large, even though i try to minimize it. any ideas?

Resize your photo to something like 640 x 480 or something. Instead of copying and pasting, simply go to Word and navigate the toolbar until you find an option for Insert Picture. Then play around with further resizing by clicking on the corners of the picture and dragging it to the appropriate size with the mouse.

My D had a problem with the photo. Only a pdf worked for her but on the preview it was huge. She couldn't get anything else to work so she just submitted it.
Turned out that it sized perfectly onto the page after submission, when she printed out the app.

should we put a pic up... i mean it is optional.. right??

If we are not hot, will our pic hurt us?

It is entirely optional; however, it's a good idea to do so if you had spoken with an admissions officer who might recognize you.

Unless you are hideous, I think sending a picture is a good idea. Maybe it shows you put enough time and thought into your app that you didn't mind finding, formatting to their specifications, and including the picture?

I refused, and my counselor agreed that it's wrong on principle.

I had the sam problem. If you're using a Mac, you should hit apple-P and hit the PDF button on the lower left screen. Then choose "MAIL PDF".
It will automatically re-format it and you can drag the picture from your mail message to the desktop.

THE SAME METHOD WORKS FOR A WINDOWS/PC COMPUTER!!!!

Good Luck :)

What principle and why is it "wrong on principle"?

I don't see how it could be wrong... They just want to put a face with the application.

as Nickel said, they just want to put a face with the application - they're trying to humanize the application process, and recall you quicker when it comes down to conference time.

this is also the picture that will end up being sent to the group that publishes the Facebook that you get when you arrive for orientation, so if you're admitted it becomes your representative mugshot, which goes on your ID, etc. It has a lot of purposes.

They put the photo you submit on your student ID??? But it doesn't even have to be a conventional picture. Weird.

I'm fairly certain they do NOT put it on the ID.

I'm having the same problem as the OP. It's frustrating!

I got it to work!!! Instead of copy/paste into word, I used "Insert" and it was like 1/5 the size (KB-wise).

i pasted mine into "Paint", cropped the pic, then put it into Word...

some of the people here are idiots.
its just a picture.
who cares if ur not hot/good looking?
