Additional Classes I should take?

I'm a 3rd year ChemE and I was wondering what additional classes I should look into in order to make myself attractive for the job market.

Soft skills? Writing, public speaking, philosophy (ethics/logic), psychology, economics, etc.

When I was evaluating college applicants, I would always look at the number and type of engineering classes they took. The more, and the harder the better, assuming that they got good grades in those classes.

Didn’t care so much for the “soft” skills as far as classes went. I would ask to see any written report from their senior project, internships, etc. Their cover letter and resume would also be writting examples. The interview would be a judge of their speaking ability. I was looking to see if one could express one’s self clearly in writting and speaking not how polished they were.

My company also offered classes in preparing and giving briefings, public speaking, etc., so one could touch up those skills later. New hires wouldn’t typically giving briefings, they were hired to do the engineering work, so it was OK to get those skills later.

I should add to my previous post that the additional engineering classes don’t have to be specifically ChemE classes. Classes outside your major but ones that would include specialties that you would have to interface with as a working engineer would be favorable. Being an aerospace structural engineer and hiring for that field, I’d look at materials classes, manufacturing engineering, heat transfer, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!!!
