The challenge with Caltech may be partly statistical, in that your current SAT score falls 50 points below Caltech’s 25th percentile level.

Drop MIT from the list. It’s a waste of an application.

^ Because you’re probably not going to get into MIT for the same reasons that you’re probably not going to get into Stanford. (At least, that’s what I presume that @vhopts is getting at.)
If you look at the Common Data Set for MIT, here, http://web.mit.edu/ir/cds/2018/index.html, Part C9 shows that, compared with last year’s matriculating students, your SAT Math score is at the 25th percentile and your SAT Reading score is below the 25th percentile. So, unless you have some amazing admissions hooks, applying to MIT is likely an exercise in futility.
