So I'm about to submit the UC Academic Update, and I'm just wondering if I should add on the additional comments section that my HS foreign language fulfills IGETC? Or is that not necessary since that info will be evident when I submit my IGETC (if I get accepted?)

I was just wondering the same thing. I’m looking over the app again and it doesn’t seem like there was any place to put in that we took 2 or 3 years of a foreign language in high school (someone PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong).

However, you should at some point (asap probably) send your official high school transcript to your CCC and then they will tell you that they receieved the application and have cleared your foreign language courses. My guess is that this is the way they check for IGETC foreign language requirement (again, someone correct me if I’m wrong).

If you took your foreign language in high school, will the UC school you’re applying to need to see your official high school transcript? Or only your CCC?

My counselor said that prior to transferring you would have to apply at the records office in your cc to have your IGETC verified. When you do that you include a copy of your high school transcript with your file. Once your IGETC is certified they will send that info to the UCs you applied for, and with that cleared, they won’t need to see the HS transcript as well. Hope that helps.

My CC already has my high school trasncript. I did’t add any additional comments regarding this, as I assume checking that my IGETC will be completed should suffice. I just hope that I’m right. Eek!
