<p>Do you think it is a good or bad idea to submit an extra essay when the college doesn't ask for one. I was thinking about submitting one to explain certain circumstances, but I'm not sure if the adcom would want to read another essay.</p>
<p>If you're explaining circumstances to make up for a "bad year," they usually ask you to write a brief description on the application or with an attached document. If it doesn't say that, I would either a) ask their admissions people the most appropriate course of action, or b) write the additional essay and attach it regardless. Just don't make it too long.</p>
