Hello colleagues,

I applied to Harvard for EA and was deferred. At that point I was not asked to provide any financial documentation - only submit CSS profile.

Two weeks ago, I received a request to submit my family's tax returns for 2012.

Does this mean that Harvard did not consider my application in EA round?

The fact that you submitted the CSS Profile, which was the only financial aid requirement for the EA deadline, and that you received a decesion, means that your application was indeed considered.

Also, considering the admissions office/comittee and FA offices are separate, even if you didn’t submit your CSS would have likely been unknown to the AdComms/office anyway.

I am sorry for formulating the question incorrectly.

I realize that they definitely considered it but does it mean that only at this point they look at financial status?

No, I was admitted EA, but had not submitted all the financial aid info I needed to at the time, but I submitted a bit more info and they were able to provide me a pretty good estimate of what I would pay.

When I submit the FAFSA, I will, along with all RD acceptees, receive my actual award. So, FA is looked at in both rounds, but matters a heck of a lot more in the RD round (in the sense that you cannot really slack off on it).

Thank you for your response.

I am glad it means that my application is being looked at again. (hopefully)

has anybody else encountered this?
