On the end of the Cornell application (applying to CALS as a Biology and Society major), it says "After you've finished filling out your applications, you may feel something is missing. Feel free to use the space below to tell us anything else about yourself that you want us to know." I'm sure other schools have similiar sections. Have any of you completed this type of section? If so, what type of things did you include? I feel obligated to because i am so nervous but at the same time i don't think there really is anything missing from my application.

thanks in advance to those who respond

I talked about how some of my classes were upper level and how the place where I intern has never had a freshman or sophomore intern before me

I talked about why my HS grades were so crappy. Basically, its an area of the application that you get to explain yourself, that something like numbers, grades, etc. won't show.

"I talked about why my HS grades were so crappy"

I am thinking of something along the lines of this, but how honest is too honest? Does the whole idea of "explaining high school grades" seem too cliche?

Well if you have a valid reason why they were bad, like mine was I went to an underdeveloped school where only 5% passed the state mandated math test, I used the school's overall pathetic nature as a hook, and I provided links with proof of what I was saying.

sounds good.

i've decided to just be as honest as possible without sounding like i'm making up excuses.
