I was wondering if any of you guys put anything for this "additional info" section on the common app. If so, what did you guys write about? Or, can you guys give me an example of what you guys wrote? I'm just curious, because I want to put in something and seem like I care, which I do.

Because I scored only an 1800 on the SAT, I was thinking of writing something about how I wasn't able to concentrate because of an illness on that specific day. If I was to write about this, how would i approach it?

Any feedback will help. Thank you so much in advance.

I’d say first off writing about that is not a good idea for a couple reasons. A) depending on your colleges 1800 may not even be a bad score, B) they’ll see explaining that as whining and complaining, probably, and C) you have a lot of chances in the SAT. If you’re really not happy with your scores, bring 'em up.

That said, the additional info section could very well be used to explain something–more likely grades than SAT scores though. This is simply because as a 12th grader you can’t do anything about sophomore year grades, but you can–and should!–do something about SATs you aren’t satisfied with. Alternatively, you could further explain extracurriculars, include more test scores or awards, or even write another essay if there’s some prompt you’ve encountered elsewhere that you feel you answered very well.

Don’t leave it blank. More may not always be better, but something is better than nothing. Stick to a page or two, tops.
