So I sent in my applications a while ago, but this year I have done a few things that I wish I could put on my apps (ie. science league, 1st place at a regional programming competition, nomination for some physics team**not sure about this one). Anyhow you guys get the point. My question is, is it worth it to have this information sent in along with my midyear report to augment my application? or do they not even consider it?

Yes, go ahead and sent it. I would mail a letter and have a heading on the top of the page in the same format as the essays. Large public universities are more numbers driven.
