So, I started a small business this summer and am very proud of this achievement. However, my personal statement is about a trivial childhood experience that reveals traits about myself, but i wanted to include the business story in my application. So I put the story in my additional information category. However, some schools ask me why I want to go into a specific field in their supplements and this story fits the bill or at least is one part of why i want to do business. Can I write a sentence like:
“This interest has been subconcious until this past summer, when I pioneered my own small business(as explained in the additional information category)”
Alternatively, i can describe the small business in the supplements that it makes sense in, submit those apps with no additional information, and then add the additional info for the schools that have no supplements.
Let me know what you think, id like to do the former but im not sure if that would be appropriate.

Based on my research, you should use the opportunities given to you to explain aspects of yourself so that the adcoms can get a full picture of you as an applicant. Thus, one essay should not be used to provide another view of you that another essay has already covered. Thus, I vote for the later approach.
I also agree on the latter approach. (And I’d also reword this: “This interest has been subconcious…”)
