So I wrote over a 600 word "short answer" essay for the common app and pasted it in, not seeing the "character" requirement. I overlooked this in the final PDF of my app, and it was sent off to a few schools severely truncated. I created a second version, but this time I'm wondering if I should put the entire rest of that essay in the "additional information" section. In my original, I had a resume/overview/list of ECs, but this essay would replace that.
Thoughts?
Thank you in advance.

If you can, try to be more concise. The short essay should not be longer than the common app essay.

so you would agree that I should use the full short answer essay, albeit made concise?

Your EC essay should adhere to the common app character limit. You should use the additional information section to list extra activities or circumstances, not to continue your essay.

anyone else?

By continuing your “short answer” in the extra information, you would be showing that you cannot follow directions. There is a reason they request a short answer - because they want a short answer, not a 600 word essay. It would be a bad idea to continue your essay there. Instead spend your time on supplemental essays.

my short answer essay is really good, so maybe it’ll go the other way. haha wishful thinking…thanks though
