Additional Information

i have two options for this section in common app:

explain about my scarcity of APs and E/Cs
REASON: three high schools, two of them in Korea which had limited amount of E/Cs one could take (only 1). Block scheduling and one AP class suddenly being disappeared in the midst of the school year

another essay on one of my unique activities

which one should i do?

anyone?,,,,,

Hi

I didn't want your post to go unanswered, but I don't really know which is best.

In my S's case....he tried to use that section to explain his only C .....and quite frankly, it just didn't sound right and it was boring to read. So instead, he wrote a short essay on one of his ECs and to me, it sounded MUCH better.

I think my son made the right decision. The first essay just sounded a bit defensive and like he was trying to justify the C. The second essay, however, really showed my son's passion for this EC....it was funny and very reflective.

Will you Guidance Counselor explain the lack of APs and ECs on your record? Writing about your unique activity could be one way to show that you DO have an EC that you are passionate about.

anyway, good luck........

FresnoMom

Yeah, if you feel that you need to justify your grades/ECs, just be careful that you aren't whiny.
