I am in Washington State's Running Start Program, which means that I have been taking classes at my local community college since my junior year of high school and getting both high school and college credit. I will be graduating with my Associate of Arts at the same time I graduate fom high school. My high school is also a small alternative school that doesn't offer honors or AP courses, so the college classes are the closest thing I have to advanced coursework. Should I mention either of these things in the Additional Information section? Also, if I do fill out the Additional Info section, should it be written like an essay or more just like a brief note?

You don’t have to explain your school’s system - eachHS includes a profile with every transcript they send. You should ask your registrar for a copy of the profile so you can see what the school says about the Running Start program and how it relates to your high school curriculum. Our school has the same thing and the profile indicates that we don’t offer AP because of the college classes. Colleges will look to see that you took the most rigorous classes available to you. it seems you have. You’re in a good spot.

if you send in all your transcripts, the adcoms should be able to see your college classes. your GC or, like mauicougar said, your school profile should explain the program you’re doing. you probably don’t need to include it in the additional info section, but ask your GC just to be sure
